Pine Valley 2050 began in June 2022 when a group of community members realized the importance of developing a plan for the valley’s future. Within just a few months, Pine Valley 2050 became a project of United Community Partners, established a steering committee, hired a community coordinator, built a website and created a mission of “Working Together for a Vibrant Pine Valley Community.”

As part of that mission, the Pine Valley 2050 steering committee developed a community survey with support from Launch Pad Baker and Rural Development Initiatives (RDI). The survey was widely distributed in December 2022, 268 residents responded. Pine Eagle High School students developed and distributed their own survey, 36 students responded. Community members 133 went online to fill out the survey 110 were put in drop boxes around town 25 mailed to the PO Box.

Bryan Tweit and Phoebe Wise of Launch Pad Baker converted the data into charts; and PARC Resources, a consulting firm from Bend, analyzed the results. We owe them a huge thank you for their hard and timely work!

Where Philanthropy Meets Your Nonprofit

A Presentation by Cheryl Puddy of the Oregon Community Foundation & Maurizio Valerio of The Ford Family Foundation

Thursday, January 26, 2023 noon - 2:00 pm, Halfway Lions Hall

Please join us to learn how your nonprofit group may take advantage of the many grants available to rural Oregon nonprofits.  Cheryl and Maurizio will explain the grant application process and answer questions about your specific projects, whether they be ’shovel ready’ or just the seed of an idea.

This event is designed to get your group thinking about where you want to take your organization in 2023 and beyond.

Pine Valley 2050 is sponsoring this event in an effort to spark ideas and make connections with the philanthropic community.  We hope you will join us.

Christmas tree lighting event

December 4, 2022 was a great showing of the community and Christmas spirit! Santa came on a horse drawn sled, lit the tree and was available to talk to children! Thank you to the Panhandle Snowmobile Club, who ensures that Halfway has a Christmas tree each year, and the Pine Valley Fair Association for bringing goodies, and to everyone else who made this a very special evening.

Pine Eagle high school survey

The high school survey came to a close December 1, 2022. We ended the survey with raffle for all the high school students who participated. Elise and Gabe did a great job leading the efforts to complete the high school survey. Principal Gover was an amazing support throughout the process.

Pine Valley Firewise hosted a clean up day for all residents

In the fall of 2022, the dumpsters and recycle containers were full in 2 hours. We learned this event was truly needed and we will do it again in the springtime of 2023!
