Debi Lorence
Debi has been married and working in education for 30 years, has two amazing daughters, and one granddaughter. Grew up farming with her three sisters on her grandparents farm. Hells Canyon and Pine Valley have been the family vacation spot for twenty-five years. She loves the Halfway community, biking, gardening and the arts.

Cindy Thayer
Cindy moved to Halfway from Baltimore in 1996, choosing to raise her son on the family farm instead of the city. Her summers spent here with grandparents, Ed and Gussie Mehlhorn, gardening, sewing, baking resulting in entries at the Fair. As the Advertising Manager for the Hells Canyon Journal, for over 20 years, she retired, and now runs Valley Girls Long-Arm Quilting with partner Susan Sciarrino.

Mallory Rex
Mallory Rex McKim has lived in Pine Valley since 2017. She lives with her husband - a 6th generation Halfwayite - and 2 kids. She works remotely as a graphic designer and also locally as Ad Manager at the Hells Canyon Journal. She is drawn to the Hells Canyon area for its secluded, majestic and magnetic appeal and its strong sense of community.

Pam Conley
Treasurer, Pam has been visiting her Pine Valley property since the mid 1980’s and became involved with UCP when she moved here in 2019. She’s a retired federal cartographer and loves hiking in all the seasons with her husband and two dogs. She also loves birding, plants, rocks, mushrooms, & reading.

Rachel Cairns
Secretary, Rachel started and finished her 26 year career as an educator in Eastern Oregon (with a stint in Nevada in-between). A native of Montana, she is happy to be once again living within sight of beloved mountains. She enjoys reading, taking care of her various adorable animals, and spending time outside.

Julie Stromer
A 4th generation Eastern Oregonian, Julie grew up in Oxbow, graduated from Pine Eagle High School and after a 6 year service in the Air Force and 20 years in Alaska moved back home to Oxbow with her husband and 3 children in 1995. She has served on the Pine Eagle School Board, the Pine Eagle United Youth Fund, the Halfway Chamber, and the Pine Eagle Health Taxing District Board. She is a beekeeper, gardener, and outdoor enthusiast.

Linda Gulick
Linda moved to Pine Valley within the U.S. Forest Service in 1984. Later she was immersed into ranch living with Kerry Gulick & and their daughters Alex & Kristen. She retired from the FS in 05 after 28 years working as a resource manager, and continued with co-management of Gulick Construction. She remains on the Board of New Hope for Eastern Oregon Animals in Baker City (since 2011) that includes being chair for 4 years. However, wildlife ecology will always be her lifetime focus
